Halloween Night · ★★☆

Singled Out

Halloween afternoon. Five friends, all in costume and rubber masks, cut across a university campus. Halfway across, dozens of crows gather overhead and dive at one of them, cawing, all the way to the gate. They ignore the other four. He has never harmed a bird, nor set foot on that campus before. Why him?

How to solve this riddle

This is a situation puzzle, a lateral thinking riddle solved by asking questions. Read the scene again and separate the facts from your assumptions. With a narrator who knows the answer, ask one question at a time: they answer yes, no or irrelevant.
